Things happen: Challenges loom large. Life gets hectic. We get busy. Sometimes, we need a "grace break" - a moment to stop, study, listen, pray, and spend some time alone with God. Below are some resources that have empowered and enriched our time alone with God.
This website features a large variety of Bible translations in a number of languages. Study guides and resources are also provided. You can even put translations side by side in the same window for comparison. Bible Gateway also provides a variety of daily Bible reading plans.
Developed by a busy Silicon Valley worker, The Mission St. Clare is an ecumenical web site that provides a daily morning and evening devotion based on the order set out in The Book of Common Prayer. Each devotion includes prayers, psalms. Scripture, and prayers for others that you can offer as is, or adapt. Links to other prayer resources, and audio feeds of hymns are provided.
The site also provides an audio version of a daily morning, noon, and compline devotion. Compline is a service of prayer that provides an opportunity to lay each day and ourselves into the hands of God before going to bed. If you're having trouble sleeping, the audio feed of Compline is a soothing, peaceful time of prayer.
The Upper Room is a daily devotional resource written by real life people seeking to live faithfully in real life situations. Each devotional includes a daily Scripture, a short reading for meditation, and an invitation to prayer. The Upper Room is produced by the Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church, and is a Mt. Zion Church favorite.
The Upper Room is also available in a large and regular print versions. Free copies are available in the gathering area of the church.
Another favorite with Mt. Zion Church, Our Daily Bread is a non-denominational daily devotional resource published by RBC ministries that includes Scripture readings, a short devotional reading, and a thought for the day. Audio feeds of the devotional are available.
Regular print copies of Our Daily Bread are available in the gathering area of the church.
